This photograph is by John Thomas, a 19th-century Welsh photographer, and is in the collections of the National Library of Wales (Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru). Their collections are so amazing; I just love their Flickr Commons stream. (I love it so much that I had to create my own separate Tumblr for my favorite images.)

He has done everything you can do with a cello except climb inside and ride it over Niagara Falls. But you know that if he ever did, he would totally redefine our preconceived notions of what it can sound like to plunge to your death in a cello.
Kanye West wants everyone to know that he expects world leaders to show up at his funeral. While speaking to The Sun, Kanye revealed that he thinks he is a huge influence, and while he doesn’t think his career is the most important things in the world to everyone else, he believes that it is “necessary”. Kanye is a douchebag at times, but I can’t lie, the man is so bloody amazing. He’s hilarious and he owns the fact that he’s an asshole. I just can’t hate him!
Is outer space really this colorful?
Things are probably going to get bad in the Congo again soon. After so many years of war and violence, a lot of major media outlets are writing the country off as a failed state. This will damage tourism again. Virunga National Park receives 80 per cent of its funding from the European Union, and that is going to expire in 2012, and the whole Eurozone crisis means the funding might not get renewed. Park rangers, guides, and the communications director at the park are desperate for tourists to keep coming in, and their future is really uncertain.
